Weekly Garden Update - Week 1
There is always a lot to do in the garden during growing season but things slow down in winter. This week was basically the beginning of the growing season here. So I decided to start a series where I show every thing I did in the garden that week and what's blooming.
Starting this week we picked up a couple of bags of dirt for our raised garden beds and then added that and a winters worth of compost to fill up our garden beds. We also gathered a bunch of leaves that had been hanging out in little nooks and crannies around the yard since fall and crushed those up and added them into the mix.
Next we cleaned out our strawberry plants that have somehow become perrinials and survived the winter for the past couple of years. Enjoy these before and after pics.
After that we started planting our cool crop vegetables like spinach, kale, and lettuce. (Article about how I plant my seeds coming soon!)
After that I cleaned out my chive plant (which has also mysteriously become a perennial) which desperately needed a trim.
Other than that the only thing that's really blooming right now is my miniature Daffodils which bloom earlier than regular Daffodils.
